About Myles Ahead

A Gold Coast disability support provider led by someone who still does the work. Myles Ahead Support Services is built around one idea: that great support is about more than filling shifts.

Myles Scarff, Director and Team Leader of supports

“While still providing direct support where needed, I also play a hands-on leadership role by mentoring support workers, reviewing documentation, liaising with support coordinators and allied health professionals, and ensuring supports remain focused on participant goals whilst enjoying the journey.”

What Myles does day to day

As director and team leader of supports, Myles remains actively involved with participants, their families and the support staff. He provides direct support where it is needed. He also plays a hands-on leadership role: mentoring support workers, reviewing documentation, liaising with support coordinators and allied health professionals, and making sure supports stay focused on each participant's goals while enjoying the journey.

The point of that involvement is consistency. When the person leading the team is also in the room with participants, the standard of support does not depend on which worker turns up, communication is quicker and families are not left carrying the load of keeping everyone informed.

What we believe

  • Support is a team effort. Participants, families, support coordinators, therapists and plan managers all hold part of the picture. Our job includes helping them share it.
  • The story should be written down as it happens. Documentation through the whole plan period, not a scramble before a review.
  • Independence is the goal. Every support should leave a person more capable and more confident than before.
  • It should be enjoyable. The most meaningful progress tends to happen while people are doing things they actually want to do.
